| Black drum are another common species you may catch in the Mosquito Lagoon or Indian River. They are related to the redfish but have a diet primarily restricted to shrimp, crabs, clams, and other crustaceans. We often catch black drum weighing in excess of 25 pounds. They provide a great fight on light tackle or fly and usually emit a loud drumming sound when landed. Some examples of black drum are pictured below. |
